Notes:  To start off, I must warn you: it was third time’s the charm for me on Scott Walker.  Twice, I purchased his album’s based on reliable sources’ insistence of his god like genius, but both times I was just like ‘okay his voice is pretty, but what’s all the fuss? he sounds like some old crooner to me!”.   Then one day it just hit me, his genius, his melancholy, his honesty, his wit.  I loved him dearly but it probably wasn’t until I saw the documentary about his career “Scott Walker: 30 Century Man” (featuring for context interviews with some of his many admirers: Brian Eno, David Bowie, Marc Almond, Jarvis Cocker, etc) that I really became obsessed with Scott and now consider him one of my all time heroes.  You may not understand him at first, but Scott will get you in the end, because he is truly one of the most incredible artists who have ever lived.   With his looks and voice (many argue one of the best vocalists of all time) he could’ve been a massive mainstream success, but he left his teenybopper band The Walker Brothers to follow his own way and make bizarre pop records with frightening lyrics set to orchestral compositions.  There has never and will never be anyone like Scott Walker, I just consider myself lucky to have heard him.
