The Clientele - Suburban Light
  1. “I Had to Say This” – 3:34  2. “Rain” – 2:34  3. “Reflections After Jane” – 3:21  4. “We Could Walk Together” – 2:34  5. “Monday’s Rain” – 5:05  6. “Joseph Cornell” – 2:23  7. “What Goes Up” – 3:35  8. “(I Want You) More Than Ever” – 3:03  9. “Saturday” – 1:53  10. “Five Day Morning” – 4:08  11. “Bicycle” – 2:42  12. “As Night Is Falling” – 5:13  13. “Lacewings” – 3:44
Notes: Somewhere between the sounds of The Zombies, Felt, and Galaxie 500 is the world of The Clientele. Jangle-filled treble guitar, swelling strings, organ flourishes, odd nostalgic production, and Alasdair Maclean’s breathy, reverb-laden vocals and surrealist lyrics drive their first album. Which isn’t an album proper, but a collection of singles released from 1997-2000. This is on the short-list of one of my favorite albums ive heard in the last few years.
For fans of: The Smiths, Felt, Belle And Sebastian, The Left Banke, The Zombies, The Byrds, pastoral pop landscapes
