Fad Gadget - Fireside Favourites (1980)
“Pedestrian” – 3:20
“State of the Nation” – 3:48
“Salt Lake City Sunday” – 2:12
“Coitus Interruptus” – 4:39
“Fireside Favourite” – 4:31
“Newsreel” – 3:42
“Insecticide” – 3:09
“The Box” – 4:19
“Arch of the Aorta” – 6:17
Notes:  Fad Gadget is the sort of incredible artist who is so intense, so honest and rare that after my initial mania upon discovering him I’ve found him a bit intense for every day listening.  But the after effects of listening to one of his albums last a while and you’ll find him effecting your life in unexpected ways.  If you’re up for a bit of sonic experimentation have a listen to this genius, a major influence of early synth pop bands, most notably Depeche Mode who brought him out of retirement to tour with them in the 90s shortly before his death.  Oh, and did I mention it’s really good dance music too?
For fans of:  Depeche Mode, The Normal, Mute Records, Soft Cell, early Human League, avant garde pop music, electronics, synthesizers, theremin, intellectually political lyrics, White Noise, Delia Derbyshire, Wendy Carlos
